A Friendly Farewell
As another semester of school starts (and by another I mean my last), I'm having to already say goodbye to friends.
As August 22nd swiftly approaches, I know that it has already hit me that this will be my last semester in school, and I will be sheltered from the real world no more. There will be no grad school, nor living with parents for a few more years... it's off to face harsh reality for me. But before I embark on this wondrous journey through hell, I'm already having to say goodbye to some of my closest friends.
While Nicole has already left the area in a sense, she's still around from time to time, and even when school starts she's going to be coming down on the weekends from Santa Barbara (where she's going to grad school). Mo and Tiff, however, will not be making such frequent trips back to LA, since they will be abroad until December.
Mo is already in Chile, and having a blast I might add, and Tiff left today for Conneticut, where she's visiting family for two weeks before she's off to Nicaragua. It's really going to be sad and I'm going to miss them terribly. Even though I don't get to see them THAT often, they are two of the people I see the most often, and they're also two of my favorites. Nevertheless, they're going to have an amazing semester, and I'M JEALOUS!
Speaking of abroad, I was talking to Tiff about my friend Matt who is going to London to live for a while and invited me. What's weird is that I was really close to saying yes. Apparently, according to Dr. Tiff, I have some deep internal desire to get away and explore... I'm assuming she arrived at this conclusion based on my talks of desired Japan, Prague, New York and London trips/living over the past months. I think she's right.
I definitely have been in the same place too long, and it's becoming almost uncomfortably familiar. So I think it's time to leave the nest, so to speak. Especially since I'm still young, and I'll be fresh out of college... it's the perfect chance to see the world without abandoning an established life. So come December, I may be gone for a while. Who knows where to and for how long... because I don't even know that at this point. All I know is I need it. I've got a few friends and aquaintences around the globe... I'm sure I'll manage.
Now this is still tentative, believe you me. I may not necessarily go in December, because who knows what will be going on then... and I'll have only been living with Stefanie for a few months and can't really just up and leave on her. So she'll just have to come with me ;) BUT I do know that I need to leave for a while, whether it be with a friend or alone... it has to happen sometime soon.
As for now, I have to get back to work... my lunch break is nearly over, and I still have other things to do! So goodbye Mo and Tiff! Have a blast and don't forget to write and send pictures!
